We’re still quite early into the year, but it’s never too soon to highlight our picks for the best sneakers of the year, so far.
Each weekend brings a laundry list of big releases, and we know all too well that keeping track of 2019’s best drops is no small task. We’ve had a promising start to the year so far, with retro Jordans, collaborations, and exciting new tech like the auto-lacing Nike Adapt BB.
We are only half-way through the year with many more drops coming soon. Keep an eye out for our Top upcoming sneakers of 2019 post.
Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 “Cactus Jack”
This is without a doubt the number one shoe of 2019. They hype of Jordan 1s along with Travis Scott equals the perfect shoe. The backwards swoosh is a trademark for this shoe making it one of the hottest shoes of the year.
Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike VaporMax
Under-the-radar streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market is the brainchild of Cynthia Lu, who became one of the first-ever female non-athletes to receive her own Nike collaboration when she re-worked the Nike VaporMax sneaker. The irresistibly charming collaboration has a hand-made feel thanks to a re-jigged Nike Swoosh made from garden wiring, plus an offbeat smiley face graphic on the heel. This refreshing and original flip on the VaporMax was widely celebrated, and tough to obtain due to limited availability through Dover Street Market and NikeLab locations.
sacai x Nike LDWaffle
No, you’re not seeing double. sacai’s double-edged mashup of two late-’70s Nike silhouettes, the LDV and Waffle Racer, features twice-stacked soles, dual tongues, twin laces, and overlapping Swooshes. The colorways also derive from that same era of Nike design, and you might even recognize one colorway’s green hue as being similar to the signature pantone of Oregon University.
Debuted on the Parisian runway in June 2018, the LDWaffle is a clever hybrid of new and old, and was shown with an accompanying Blazer, both of which eventually dropped in May 2019, after some sneakerheads simply couldn’t take the anticipation any longer.
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Triple Black
Kanye comes out with new colorways for his 350s constantly and some are being ignored but not these. This color way is similar to the OG 350s and is extremely Hyped. They are yet to release but will be a huge drop.
Nike Mars Yard Overshoe
One of the strangest but also one of the most sought after shoes in 2019. This pair will run you around $700 resell but if you can style it and afford it why not?
New Balance x Bodega
The new balance Bodega shoes came out in April and have a pretty high resell price. These shoes are very stylish and with its plentiful colors can be styled with anything.
Those are our favorites at the moment. Hopefully the second half of 2019 gives us more heat!
